Voice Instruction for:  Experienced or Beginning

Music Theatre,  Show Choir,  Vocal Competition,  Public Speaking,  or for  Fun

AirSong Studio can help you improve the following vocal skills:

Learning songs (by memory):

The student will always work on two songs simultaneously – one that the student chooses from their own songbook of choice, and one that will be assigned from the “art” song book the student has purchased (please see “Materials”).  It is very helpful to memorize songs in order to focus on how to improve vocal technique and presentation skills.  To that end, the student will be encouraged to memorize both songs before moving on to new ones.  The “art” songbook that is used will help the student build vocal skills that they can then apply to the music they love.  These pieces are also used in the ISSMA festival (for high school choir, band or orchestra members).

Practicing:

All students are expected to practice 30 minutes a day, 5 days per week.  Students are provided a Vocal Packet at the first lesson.  This includes a vocal exercise book and CD, practice record, sight-singing exercises, and several informative handouts.  Students will bring the ENTIRE packet to every lesson, along with song books, practice recordings and a pencil.  The Vocal Practice Model will be used to organize practice time.  Student can sing along with the recordings for the exercises and songs.  Practice time will be written down in the practice book. If the student comes to the lesson with no materials, the lesson will be shortened.

Recital:

There will be a student recital at the end of each term.  This will give each student the opportunity to share their music with friends and family and earn the reward for all their hard work.  The recital also allows the student to build performance skills.
